Sir Gaheris is a Knight of the Round Table in Arthurian legend, known for his complex family relationships and tragic fate. He first appeared in Geoffrey of Monmouth's *Historia Regum Britanniae* (c. 1136), one of the earliest sources of Arthurian lore.
Gaheris is the son of King Lot of Orkney and Morgause, making him the brother of Gawaine, Agravaine, and Gareth. He is often depicted as a skilled warrior, but somewhat less prominent than his brothers in Arthurian romances.
His most notable story involves his relationship with his mother Morgause. In some versions, he kills her after discovering her affair with Sir Lamorak, a act that often has significant consequences within the narrative, especially the perpetuation of the feud between the Orkney brothers and the family of Pellinore.
Gaheris meets his own end at the hands of Sir Lancelot during the rescue of Queen Guinevere from being burned at the stake. Lancelot, overwhelmed by the need to free the queen, strikes down Gaheris and his brother Gareth, an act that contributes to the downfall of Camelot.
